Tamils in Myanmar - Past and Present.wmv

Tamils arrived in Burma during the British rule. Many of them left on their own free will before the Japanese occupation in 1942 and in 1962 when their businesses were nationalized.
However, many of them remained in Myanmar and their current population is estimated to as much as 2.9 million. Many of them are engaged in small business and farming. Due to scaracity of jobs, they lack in motivation to study. Over 100 Hindu temples can be found in many parts of the country. This video shows an interview with Mr Solai Thiayagarajan of Yangon was taken in Yangon on the past and present of Myanmar Tamils. The geographically isolated Tamils need support and help from other Tamils.
